Cameraman Santosh Sivan who has been getting congratulated for his brilliant work in Raavanan, is now all set to do a film in Malayalam and Tamil, titled Urumi.It will also be dubbed in english.
It is a casting coup for Santhosh as he has brought together India’s most valued brand Genelia and the fastest rising star Prithviraj together. Santosh’s last directorial ventures in English Beyond the Rains and Tahaan in Hindi have been critically acclaimed and were also marketing success.
Urumi is a period film with Prithviraj and Genelia in the lead while the rest of the cast is being finalised. 'Urumi' is an 8 ft long flexible sword used in Kalari fights, a martial art of Kerala.
Urumi is about a group of men who wanted to assassinate Vasco Da Gama, the Portuguese explorer, who set foot in Kappad in Calicut in 1498. The film will have an English subtitle- “Who Killed Vasco De Gama?” Genelia will play a Portuguese princess while Prithviraj will be the leader of the gang who wants to kill Vasco De Gama.It will be the first film produced by prithviraj.
